Exam centre sought at Tura

By The Assam Tribune

TURA, April 23 - West Garo Hills DC Ram Singh has written to the Principal Secretary of the State, seeking an examination centre here to cater to many aspirants for jobs advertised by the Central Government.

In a letter sent today to the Principal Secretary of the Labour Department, Singh stated that a large number of aspirants from the Garo Hills apply online for positions advertised by the Central Government through UPSC, SSC and PSUs. However, most have not been able to appear in these examinations as they hail from remote areas and have poor economic background.

The DC added that with Guwahati and Shillong being the two examination centres notified, people from the Garo Hills find it difficult to get accommodation and transportation during the time of the examinations.

Stating that Tura has the required infrastructure to conduct various examinations, Singh stressed that it would benefit the local aspirants if the Central examinations could be conducted here as well.
