GUWAHATI, Jan 31 - Chandreswar Sarma, a former in-charge of the Advertisement Layout Section of The Assam Tribune died at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital today due to heart failure. He was 71.

Sarma, who retired in 2006 from The Assam Tribune, commanded love and respect from his colleagues for his amiable nature. He led the Assam Tribune Employees' Union (ATEU) on several occasions as its general secretary.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of other relatives.

His last rites were performed at the Navagraha cremation ground here. Earlier, his mortal remains were brought to The Assam Tribune premises, where the employees and management of the newspaper group paid their last respects to him.
