GUWAHATI, Dec 30 - Noted academician and former principal of Arya Vidyapeeth College Amrik Singh passed away today at a private hospital in Ludhiana. He was 83.
Singh was also the founder secretary of Guru Nanak National High School in Guwahati.
An administrator par excellence, Singh was instrumental in bringing about quality changes in both Arya Vidyapeeth College and Sri Guru Nanak National School during his tenure in both the institutions.
He served as the principal of Arya Vidyapeeth College for 21 years.
A person of amiable nature, Singh was also associated with a number of socio-cultural organisations in the State. In a statement, the management, staff and students of Sri Guru Nanak National High School expressed their grief at his passing away.
�His death has created a void which will be difficult to fill,� a statement issued by Sri Guru Nanak National High School said.
Singh leaves behind his wife, three daughters and a son, besides a host of relatives.
