DIMAPUR, March 14 - Former Nagaland Chief Minister KL Chishi rejoined the Congress on Thursday. He joined the BJP before the State Assembly election last year and resigned from the party on March 7 last.

In a release, Chishi said he rejoined the Indian National Congress as his heart and spirit could never be separated from the party. He said the Congress has been the true epitome of secularism and upholds the sanctity of the Indian Constitution.

He expressed gratitude to the AICC and Nagaland PCC leadership for accepting him back in the Congress fold which he said is homecoming for him.

Chishi assured to put up a united fight to defeat communal and fascist forces.

Nagas at this juncture need a national party like Congress that respects our faith and way of life without telling us what to eat, wear or follow, he said.

Chishi also said his brief association with BJP has only made him realise that a party with communal and fundamentalist ideology like BJP is a threat to the aspirations of the Nagas clamouring for an honourable political settlement of the protracted Indo-Naga political issue and also Nagas way of life.
