IMPHAL, March 28 - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kim Gangte has resigned from the primary membership of the party.

It is to inform you with deep regret that I have resigned from primary membership of BJP Manipur unit with immediate effect, said ex-MP Kim Gangte in a letter to the president of the BJP Manipur unit. The resignation letter was submitted last evening.

I joined BJP as I had faith in the party leadership and I hoped and thought that justice will be done, he said and added, But it did not happen. Ive been betrayed.

Claiming that she deserved the party ticket, being the lone aspiring woman candidate, she said, After all I was the party spokesperson. Alleging that the BJP is not ready to support any woman candidate, she said, Im the living proof.

However, chief spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh S Tikendra clarified that it would be wrong to say that there is no place for woman candidate in the party which had been providing eminent places for many leaders such as Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman, and others.

Ex-MP Kim Gangte had joined the BJP along with two Congress MLAs Nemcha Kipgen and Vungjagin Valte in January 2017.
