By Staff Correspondent

JORHAT, Nov 13 - The Fan Club of AICC Secretary and former Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami celebrated his birthday on Tuesday amongst the inmates of an old age home here.

The Rana Goswami Fans Club organised a simple and solemn function at Amaravati Old Age Home here where Goswami cut the birthday cake and spent time with the inmates and also had light refreshments with them.

Goswami, who also distributed warm clothes among the inmates, said he always used to celebrate his birthday amongst the poor and needy people, and this time wanted to share the special day with elderly people.

Old people feel very happy if they are showered with love and affection by the younger generation, said Goswami, adding that he really felt very content seeing smiles on the faces of inmates who seemed to enjoy interacting with him.

Goswami, also a former Assam Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs, said he will keep in touch with the old age home and will pay visits at short intervals.

Thanking his fan club members for arranging the birthday celebration with senior citizens, the AICC secretary said that another function was organised on the occasion -- a prize money art competition, which was held in three groups amongst the school students of Jorhat district -- was also very enjoyable.

Sweets were distributed among more than 400 participants of the art competition held at the Mahatma Gandhi Park here.
