JORABAT, Dec 19 - Rituraj Phukan, son of MLA and former minister Pranati Phukan, died when the small wooden boat he was rowing along with his two other friends, capsized in the Umgot river near Dawki, Meghalaya, along the Indo-Bangladesh border this morning.
The two friends survived the accident, but they are stated to be in a serious condition.
The youths had gone on a trip to the place and today was their second day in Meghalaya.
�They had come from Guwahati last morning. Their family members have been informed. Rituraj�s sister has already reached the place of accident,� the local SP said, adding that the names of the two friends have not been ascertained as yet.
