Ex-minister not a factor: Rumi Nath

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, March 19 - Claiming that former Minister Misbahul Islam Laskar was never a factor for her in Borkhola constituency, Legislator and Congress candidate Dr Rumi Nath said that Laskar has always been fighting the elections as Independent.

Mr Laskar has been fighting as Independent and is not a factor for me, she said after submitting her nomination papers.

Unfazed about the gossips on her private affairs, Nath said that she is focused on her role to solve the problems of her constituency and bothers least about what is being discussed in the public.

On the other hand, Misbahul has filed his nominations as an Independent candidate. In his words, he did not approach the party, but it was APCC president Anjan Dutta who asked him to come back to the Congress in 2015.

It is to be mentioned that the former minister had left Congress after he was denied poll ticket in 2011. Udharbondh Congress candidate Ajit Singh said that he is in relaxed mood and ready for the battle. Ataur Rahman Majharbhuiyan, who is contesting on a Congress ticket from Katigorah constituency in the Assembly elections, is confident about his victory.

Exuding confidence from his political records, he said, There is no contest from any candidate in Katigorah. People know their leader and I am confident I will win in record votes as a Congress candidate.
