Ex-Deputy CM of Manipur passes away

IMPHAL, April 5 - Former Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Dr Leishangthem Chandramani Singh breathed his last at a private hospital here on Saturday night. He was 86.

After joining politics in 1972, Dr Chandramani, a resident of Patsoi Part (IV) in Manipur�s Imphal West district, served as the Deputy Chief Minister twice and the Speaker of the State Assembly twice. He was the president of Manipur People�s Party and also an office bearer of the State Congress.

He authored three books � �History of Manipur�, �The Boundaries of Manipur� and �Athoubasinggi Nishing Numit�.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Speaker Y Khemchand and other leaders have condoled the demise of the veteran leader.
