Ex-cricketers protest on Sept 20

By A Sports Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 17 - A protest programme will be staged at the Barsapara cricket stadium here on September 20 by a group of ex cricketers of the State demanding permanent removal of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) general secretary Bikash Baruah, who has been embroiled in many controversies as well as not to include players of other States in the State junior teams for BCCI tournaments.

In a press meet held at the Assam Olympic Association conference hall here today, Dipak Das, former Ranji cricketer, demanded CBI enquiry into the financial part of ACA.

Moreover, they disclosed that two young cricketers of other States have been included in Assam U-23 camp recently namely Ishan Nabi (Bihar) and Sajid Khan (UP). Moreover, ACA is also planning to bring one more from Delhi. Needless to say that Ishan is playing for Nagaon while Sajid is representing Charaideo in district level.

Three professional cricketers for Ranji team is alright, but why outsiders in our junior team? How can we develop in this process. We should give opportunity to our own players only, said Das.

Sajjad Zaheer Hussain raised the point that Bikash Baruah has joined ACA as general secretary again after taking more than one month break. In his absence, ACAs expanses in exposure tour and U-16 camp were very much less in comparision to last 10 years.
