IMPHAL, Jan 8 � Former Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Rajkumar Manisana passed away at the Shija Hospital here at 10.30 this morning. He was 86.
He was admitted to the private hospital after he received head injuries in a fall at his residence on January 6.
Manisana began his career as an advocate in 1958. He served as a government advocate-cum-public prosecutor of Manipur from 1972 to 1974. Later, he was appointed as the Advocate General of Manipur in 1979.
He became a judge of the Gauhati High Court in 1984 and later became the Chief Justice of the same in 1994.
He was also the Chairman of the Assam Human Rights Commission from January 2, 2002, till he attained 70 years of age.
