Ex-Bodo ultras hails Govt-ULFA talk initiative

UDALGURI June 27 � The Ex-Bodo Militants having its headquarters at Udalguri has hailed the talk initiatives between the Government and the ultra outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). This was made known to the media in a press release issued by Patras Narzari, president of the organisation, here on June 23 last.

Hailing the pro-talk environment between the Government and the banned ultra outfit, the press release said that the ULFA too should extend its cooperation to the government in its continued effort to find out a political solution of the vexed problem. The press release further appealed to all concerned intellectuals and general public to extend all possible help in this positive step taken by the government.

Citing an example of pending problems like Naga militants who had a ceasefire pact with the government for many years, but nothing could be solved till date, as a result of which the people of Nagaland have been suffering a lot, the ex-Bodo militants� organisation observed that both sides should not allow a situation like that of Nagaland to develop in Assam.� If the government shows reluctance in solving the vexed problem right now, then peace would be a far sighted dream in Assam�, the press release added.

Referring to the Ranjan Daimari issue, the press release further observed that the government too should take a leading role to solve the long pending NDFB imbroglio by initiating talks with the jailed NDFB chief for the sake of permanent peace in Assam.

Biennial meet: The first biennial conference of BTAD cell of All Assam Higher Secondary Teachers� and Employees� Association (AAHSTEA) is going to be held at Harisinga HS school premises on June 29 next with a day-long agenda.

According to the agenda, the daylong conference will be initiated with AAHSTEA flag hoisting by Santala Basumatary, president of AAHSTEA, BTAD cell followed by community prayer to be conducted by Nelson Daimari, vice principal of Harisinga HS school while Kartick Ch. Boro, MCLA of Harisinga constituency will inaugurate the delegates� session at 10.00 am.

The open session will be inaugurated with a welcome address by Nripen Das, inspector of schools, Udalguri district circle while Santala Basumatary, president of BTAD cell of the organization will preside over the open session. Rihon Daimari, Public Health Engineering minister of Assam will attend the open session as chief guest while Derhasat Basumatary executive member for Education of BTC, Rabisankar Borgoyary, director of education of BTC and Syed Anisur Rahman, general secretary of AAHSTEA will attend the open session as special guest, appointed speaker and guest of honour respectively. Lok Bahadur Chettri, the outgoing principal of Harisinga HS school will offer vote of thanks on the occasion.

Rabha Divas: The Orang Anchalik Mahila Parishad and Orang Anchalik Bishnu-Jyoti Mahila Aru Sishu Vikash Samiti observed the 41st death anniversary of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha as Rabha Divas at Orang Laxminath Bezbaruah College premises on June 20 last with a day-long cultural agenda. The programme began with floral tributes initiated by Someswar Daimary to the cultural icon of Assam Bishnu Rabha sangeet presented by the students of Orang area.

The open session chaired by Deeali Sarmah, principal of Laxminath Bezbaruah college was anchored by Anurupa Deka, secretary of Orang Anchalik Mahila Parishad. The open session on the occasion felicitated HSLC and HS candidates who brought glory to Orang in the recently declared HSLC and HSLC examination results. The open session on the occasion felicitated Swapnaneel Borah,Chakradhar Mahato, Mallika Saikia, Nihar Bista, Deepjyoti Borah, Deepsikha Medhi, Chandranath Saikia, Runa Chakravorty,Utpal Deka, Jadav Sarmah, Reshmai Basumatary and Sonmani Kalita with felicitation certificates, packet of books.

On the other hand, the Laxminath Bezbarua college also felicitated Milan Boro of Borsala, Danswrang Boro and Raghujit Brahma of Mazbat for their brilliant academic performances from the college as the first batch of HS final year. Naba Kumar Deka, secretary of the governing body of the college, Ananta Chakravorty, teacher of Rowta Danda Sahariah HS School highlighted the life and philosophy of Bishnu Rabha.

The Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Junior and Degree College of Orang also observed the Rabha Divas on the occasion with a day-long agenda at the college campus on June 20 last.
