GUWAHATI, June 14 Former Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) president Manoj Baruah today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
A vocal supporter of regional rights, Baruah, as a general member of the national political party, said that he was willing to carry out any kind of responsibility given by the party.
After joining the BJP, Baruah told The Assam Tribune that his involvement in active politics was his next move towards the solution of problems of the State.
In my opinion, regional ideology is not contrary to the national good, rather, they are supplementary to each other. Development of Assam would support the overall development of the country. Even our Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked for the development of his home state Gujarat before coming to the national arena, he said.
Denying that he had a preference of constituency in the coming Lok Sabha elections, he said that he would readily take up any responsibility given by the party.
