TINSUKIA, Nov 12 � Acting on complaints registered by various sections of the public here, the district administration started an eviction drive by dismantling makeshift business establishments on the roads and footpaths of the town today. Under the supervision of an executive magistrate, JCBs were pressed into service to remove encroachment on the busy GNB Road, AT Road, Debi Pukhuri Road, etc.
It may be mentioned here that due to illegal encroachment, both pedestrians and motorists cannot move freely and several road accidents also occur. The executive magistrate stated that the eviction drive cannot be completed in a single day, and that it would continue to free the roads and remove the traffic hazards.
