Event on emerging trends in science and technology held

GUWAHATI, March 20 - The National Conference on Emerging Trends in Science and Technology (NCETST) and the 65th technical session of Assam Science Society (ASS), catalysed and supported by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), was organised by Assam Down Town University (ADTU) in its campus recently.

At the inaugural session of the conference, noted academicians and scientists including Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, AdtU; Prof Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, Vice Chancellor, Cotton University; Dr Arup Kr Misra, Director, ASTEC; Dr Joyanti Chutia, former director, IASST and current president of Assam Science Society, spoke on wide ranging issues.

Dr Jaydeep Barua, general secretary, Assam Science Society, gave an outline of its role of towards the entire student-teacher community of the region.

Broad areas of the conference included mathematical science, physical science, chemical science and life science from which 71 abstracts were submitted.

Prof Abu T Khan, Department of Chemistry, IITG; Prof Kishore K Das, HoD, Statistics, GU; Dr Bipon Hazarika, Dept of Mathematics, GU; Prof Sunandan Baruah, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, AdtU and Dr Rajib Sarma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, AdtU delivered plenary talks in their respective sessions.

The participants presented their research findings in five sessions. This two-day conference ended with a valedictory session led by Dr. Manas P Kashyap, where certificates were distributed.
