By Correspondent

TURA, Dec 4 - Tura town today saw thousands of Catholic faithfuls come together to take part in the annual Holy Eucharistic procession along with Bishop of Tura, Rt Rev Andrew R Marak, who led the devotees by holding the Blessed Eucharist in a specially decorated vehicle.

The Eucharist (also called Holy Communion, the Lords Supper) is a Christian rite that is considered a sacrament in most churches. According to the New Testament, it was instituted by Jesus Christ during his Last Supper.

The annual event began with Holy Mass on the grounds of Don Bosco School stadium at Sampalgre and was followed by a procession in which the Holy Eucharist sealed inside a glass case in the centre of a golden cross that was placed in the vehicle.

German born Sister Mary Prema, Superior General of Missionaries of Charity who is on her maiden trip to Garo Hills as head of the congregation joined the procession as it moved through Chandmari, RC Road, Bonepa, Wadanang and Sampalgre.

Faithfuls placed flowers and pictures of Christ and Mother Mary outside their homes to seek blessings of the Holy Eucharist along the route while special prayers and hymns were sung.
