By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 17 - Meigo Mark, the 26-year-old Estonian globetrotter on foot visited Don Bosco School, Panbazar here on Tuesday. The Don Bosco Scout troupe under veteran Scout master Raphael Lazar had invited the wonder walker on foot to visit the school and inspire the students with his amazing story.

In his welcome address, school principal Fr Sebastain Mathew said, Its wonderful to have the determined young man in our midst and I am sure our students will be inspired by his story and the challenges that he has overcome.

Mark was extended a traditional felicitation and was presented a memento as well.

In his address to the students during the morning assembly, the globetrotter said, Life is full of challenges, but the greatest person is one who takes up these challenges with a smile. He further added, Its not the kilometres you traverse on foot, but the people you meet and interact along the way.

It must be mentioned here that he had started walking around the world on May 11, 2014 from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Using no motor vehicles (buses, trains, cars, bikes) he has walked in two years through 14 countries, covering a total of 8,920 km. He walks around 25-55 km a day. He hopes to walk 7-8 years more in 40-45 countries and traverse a minimum 40,075 km more.

In the two years of his journey, he has stayed, slept and lived in more than 130 different homes with local families. Whenever I am inside a local home, I feel very lucky and blessed because home is the most private holy place, he mentioned.

Elaborating more on his present life, Mark said, In two years I have worn out nine pairs of shoes, slept more than 250 nights in a tent in different forests. I have visited many schools, universities, companies to share some of my experiences. After 10 years I hope to write a book about walking around the world to share the amazing stories and experiences with others.
