DOOMDOOMA, July 8 � The historic Mayamara Tipuk Simaluguri Bajrapur Satra situated at Kardoiguri area under Hapjan Mouza of Doomdooma revenue circle in Tinsukia district in facing a grave threat from the erosion caused by the Dangari river. In order to discuss this problem, a public meeting was held in the satra on June 30 under the stewardship of the Satradhikar Sri Sri Lechem Ch Goswami. Former president of Asam Moran Sabha, Someswar Moran, explained the objectives of the meeting. The meeting unanimously decided to shift the Satra to a suitable place. For this, a rehabilitation committee was formed in the meeting with Ajoy Dangaria as president and Someswar Moran as secretary. The committee will take necessary steps to shift the Satra to a safer and suitable location.
The people present in the meeting criticised the State Government for its lack of initiatives to save the Satra. The State Water Resources department had sanctioned Rs 1.11 crore to check the erosion but according to the locals, the department has spent only Rs 20 lakh.
