NARAYANPUR, April 19 � Heavy erosion by Subansiri and Brahmaputra rivers caused extensive damages to vast areas of land near Nunibari, Tikirai, Temera, Silikhaguri, Mazghat, Jamuguri, Arimora under Narayanpur revenue circle.
In certain places, erosion by Subansiri has breached the embankment threatening inhabitants living near the bank of the river.
It is learnt that no measures have been taken so far to protect the bank of the river from erosion. Besides, the breaches of the embankment near Borbil, Mazghat, Jamuguri, Arimorah are yet to be repaired failing which flood of river Brahmaputra and Subansiri would cause extensive damages to vast area of Narayanpur revenue circle.
Now the public of the concerned localities have demanded the district authority, flood control department and the local MLA to take measures against erosion as well as repairing of breaches of embankment of Subansiri and Brahmaputra before monsoon appears.
