Erosion by Doyang cause of concern

GOLAGHAT, Aug 7 � In the Assam-Nagaland border within Golaghat district, farmers of the border areas have been concerned over the heavy erosion caused by the river Doyang. In the current month, all total 20 villages have been eroded by the Doyang river and farming land, trees, houses have been destroyed due to erosion, the people alleged. The Golaghat- Jamuguri road also has been damaged due to erosion. The families which had been badly affected for erosion had to leave their dwelling houses. The affected people told The Assam Tribune in Merapani recently that Kasomari, Biyakoruwa, Duboron, Jamuguri, Kalujar, Tengari, Naharkhoha, Mising Gaon villages would surely be ravaged by the erosion of the Doyang river.

The people had alleged that the government had failed to take viable steps against the affected villagers of the border areas. The people had demanded the State Government to take proper measures against the prevention of the erosion of the Doyang river within a short time.
