GUWAHATI, Jan 14 � A general meeting of the Equality Forum, Assam was held here recnetly. The Forum, constituted with an objective to ensure equal opportunity to all deserving Government servants, discussed various issues related to reservation in promotion.
The Forum resented the content of the latest office memorandum by the Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes Department directing the concern authoraties to go back to the previous practice of reservation in promotion, without fulfilling the conditions as laid down by the Supreme Court as well as the Gauhati High Court in judgement against different writ petitions and without the Interim Order passed by the Gauhati High Court being quashed. The Forum protested such act of the Department and demanded withdrawal of the office memorandum, Forum sources said.
