Entry of Tablighi Jamaat into mosques prohibited in Jorhat

By Staff Correspondent

JORHAT, April 6 - The Purana Masjid at Old Balibat locality here established in 1835, which is one of the oldest mosques of Upper Assam, in view of the Nizamuddin Tablighi Markaz issue has renewed its earlier decision of not allowing Tablighi Jamaat to carry out any kind of activity in the masjid.

In a press note issued by the managing committee of the masjid, it was stated that in view of the condemnable action of the Tablighi Jamaat in present times relating to Covid-19 outbreak, the entry of Tablighi Jamaat into the masjid has been fully prohibited. While severely condemning the shameful behaviour of some members of Tablighi Jamaat towards doctors, nurses and medical staff in recent times, the note further appealed to Tablighi members in Assam who have not reported to Health department and respective district administration authorities, to immediately come out from their places of stay and contact the authorities.

It may be mentioned here that on Sunday the managing committee of Rajahouli Masjid at Kurkatoli on the northern outskirts here, too prohibited entry of Tablighi Jamaat to the masjid for same reasons.

The committee, in a press note also, stated that if any member of Rajahouli Masjid Jamaat takes part in Tablighi Jamaat activities then the masjid committee will take necessary action accordingly.
