GUWAHATI, May 31 - The Munin Barkotoki Memorial Trust, instituted in 1995 in the memory of renowned litterateur, critic and journalist Late Munin Barkotoki, has invited entries for Assamese books/manuscripts from young and promising writers for this year�s Munin Barkotoki Literary Award. The award, instituted to encourage budding writers in Assamese, carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a memento and a citation, stated a press release.
Applicants must be less than 40 years of age as on December 31, 2020. They should not have more than three published books in Assamese to their credit. The book entry for the award, if it is a published book, should have been published within the period from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2019. Books that have been already awarded at the State or national level will not be considered for this award. Books on pure science or research monographs will also not be considered.
Young writers fulfilling the above criteria are invited to submit five copies of their published book or five copies of their manuscript (typed versions) along with a self-attested copy of their age certificate on or before July 31, 2020, at the office of the Trust located at Panchavati, GNB Road, Silpukhuri. An application form (available from the Trust office or downloadable from the Trust website) has to be duly filled in and signed.
