MANGALDAI, June 11 - Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah on Thursday ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident in which the Mangaldai Civil Hospital authority had discharged a COVID-19 positive patient in place of a patient who tested negative.

Talking to this newspaper, Borah said, ADC Kalpana Deka will conduct the enquiry and I have also asked for an instant report from the district Health department.

Meanwhile, Dr Gopinath Bora, Superintendent of Mangaldai Civil Hospital, admitted the serious lapse on their part and said, The lapse took place due to little difference in the spellings of the names of two patients Hanif Ali and Hamid Ali. Instead of Hamid, Hanif was discharged. But in the morning, we brought Hanif back.
