English edition of Rajabala Das� autobiography released

GUWAHATI, June 20 - Noted litterateur Nirupama Borgohain released Three score years and ten: One life, many memories, the English translation of Tini kuri doh bochoror smriti, an autobiography of Rajabala Das, founder principal of Handique Girls� College, here on Monday, said a press release today.

Das, a pioneer in women�s empowerment, has made remarkable contributions to the field of Assamese literature and her autobiography is considered as an important document on women�s education in pre-Independence Assam.

The book has been translated into English by Aditi Chowdhury, a former head of the Department of English, Handique Girls� College.

The other dignitaries present at the meeting held at Handique Girls� College, were Dr Nani Gopal Mahanta, Professor in the Department of Political Science, Gauhati University and president of the college governing body; Dinesh Baruah, former president of the college governing body, Geeta Baruah and Pranita Das.

The book has been published by Handique Girls� College.
