HAFLONG, Aug 16 - The Chairman, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Ngamrothang Hmar, launched the inaugural issue an English daily named The Dima Hasao Times published by Swapna Daulagupu and edited by Bahim Ch Langthasa at a solemn function here on Saturday.
With Kalyan Daolagupu, president, Jadikhe Naisho Hosom (JNH) in the chair, a meeting was held at the conference hall of the Ladies Welfare Society was attended among others by Danish Teron, Executive Member, Kulendra Daolagupu and BC Langthasa, Editor, The Dima Hasao Times.
Attending the meeting as the chief guest, Ngamrothang Hmar expressed satisfaction over the addition of a daily in the list of newspapers in Dima Hasao. He hoped that the people of the district would be benefited by the newspaper as it will be able to incorporate more local news items, which the newspapers from outside the district usually don�t do.
Among others, BC Langthasa, LK Hegna, Editor, Haflong News, Pankaj Deb, Editor, Shailo Prabaho, Biplob Deb, Secretary, Journalist Union also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Swapna Daulagupu, publisher of The Dima Hasao Times stated the aims and objective of the meeting, while seeking active cooperation from all sections of the people in the district to the publishing venture.
