GUWAHATI, March 7 - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today questioned District Transport Officer (Enforcement) Prasenjit Ghosh in connection with the illegal coal syndicate.
Ghosh, who was summoned by the CID, was questioned for nearly two hours at its headquarters today.
Sources in the CID informed that a number of documents related to the functioning of the check gate were received from Ghosh which are being examined.
Ghosh told investigators that he had made several representations to the government and higher officials to initiate corrective measures ever since he took charge as the DTO but to no avail.
He also told the investigators that he had specifically informed the government about the non-functioning of closed circuit television cameras, lights and the absence of barricades, but nothing was done to improve the situation.
CID sources said Ghosh and some other senior officials of the Transport department might be summoned again, if the need arises. �At the moment, we are corroborating the statements and records available,� sources added.
Sources further divulged that the six Enforcement officials, who did not appear before the investigators on the previous date, would be summoned again. When contacted, Ghosh said that he has handed over all the documents sought by the investigation agency to facilitate a fair probe.
