GUWAHATI, June 23 - Swagat Academy of Medical Sciences, Guwahati with technical support from Boston Scientific Corporation India organised the 3rd regional endoscopy training course here on Sunday, a press release stated.
Prof Subhash Khanna, dean of the academy, said the programme was organised to update and train endoscopy technicians of various hospitals of Guwahati and the North East.
He said that most endoscopy technicians were trained by observing and there was no formal training in various hospitals of the country. These technicians need regular updates of the equipment and technology.
Around 50 technicians from various private and government hospitals of Guwahati attended the programme.
Surgeons and gastroenterologists from various hospitals of Guwahati, including Dr Amitava Goswami, Dr Hitesh Kalita, Dr Biswajit Deuri, Dr Pranjal Deka, Dr Mukesh Agarwal, Dr Abhijit Barua, Dr Kamal Chetri and Dr BN Choudhury spoke on various aspects of endoscopy including maintenance, sterilization of equipment, risk reduction strategy and advances in equipment and technology.
