Encroachments by Nagas dismantled

By Correspondent

SIVASAGAR, June 13 - Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Lakhinandan Gogoi visited Singibeel along the Assam-Nagaland border in Nazira subdivision to review the situation following incursion of Nagas into Assam and setting up bamboo structures.

The local people have long been complaining about illegal construction of houses inside Assam, extortion and cutting down of tea bushes by Naga miscreants, right from Kanubari to Amguri.

Gogoi met the villagers and discussed ways to maintain peace. Police personnel led by Sivasagar SP Amitabh Sinha, CRPF jawans and APBn personnel from Nigiripukhuri, dismantled all bamboo constructions set up by the Nagas.

Gogoi instructed police to maintain strict vigil along the border. The district administration team also saw troops of Nagaland Armed Police in the area. However, there was no conflict between the security personnel and the dispute was settled peacefully.
