GUWAHATI, April 17 - Expressing unhappiness at the Seventh Pay Commission, Sadou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) president Basav Chandra Kalita said the new pay package has created resentment among the government employees.

Addressing the twentieth biennial conference of the Guwahati Medical College Employees Union recently, Kalita said the pay commission was set up to benefit the employees.

Though the salaries have increased a bit, certain allowances, like house rent, etc., have been decreased. Instead of making the employees happy the new pay commission has only resulted in resentment among the employees, he said.

The open session of the conference, which was chaired by president of the GMC Employees Union Kanuram Kalita, was inaugurated by GMC Principal Dr Atindra Kumar Adhikari. A souvenir titled Jyotirgomoy was released by forensic scientist Dr Padmapani.

At the general meeting of the conference, a number of resolutions were adopted. A new 37-member executive body of the union was also elected for 2017-2018 with Kanuram Kalita as president, Fakaruddin Ahmed as general secretary and Dilip Sangma as treasurer.
