By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, June 15 - Reacting to an incident of alleged emotional bluff by two air passengers in their bid to skip institutional quarantine, the Cachar district administration has decided to take a tough stance on the issue and similar cases henceforth.

After deboarding a flight from Kolkata on June 12, two siblings, residing at Cachar High School road of Silchar town, told officials at the airport that they had come to attend a funeral ceremony at home and requested for home quarantine. However, the next day we got complaints from neighbours that the two were found flouting the home quarantine rules and the funeral story was a lie to skip institutional quarantine. We are taking the issue seriously note and after inquiry, action would be taken according to rules, once the quarantine period is over, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan told the media on Sunday.

Sattawan said that till June 13, as many as 7,731 passengers coming from outside by trains, buses and flights have been received by the administration and 5,318 have been quarantined, out of which 5,055 persons have been discharged so far.
