JORHAT, April 2 - An eminent teacher of Jorhat, who played a significant role in introducing Montessori education in the state, Abala Gohain breathed her last at her Nazir Ali residence on Friday due to old age ailment. She was 91.
As she took utmost care for the education of hundreds of children at Balya Bhavan, Jorhat all classes of citizens across the district called her �Bor Baideo� in respect and gratitude.
She was also the first woman president of Jorhat Sahitya Sabha.
Along with her students, teachers of several academic institutions, senior citizens and several students� organisations including AASU, AJYCP and the local unit of Sahitya Sabha deeply condoled her death.
