DIMAPUR, March 17 - The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) will convene an emergency meeting of all apex tribal bodies and civil society organisations on March 19 here in connection with the inner line permit (ILP) system and the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN).
A press release issued by the JCPI in this regard stated that the meeting has been called �as the ultimatum issued to the State Government with regard to the issues of the RIIN and ILP on February 24 has expired�.
The �ultimatum� had demanded a fresh notification of the RIIN based on the Banuo Commission report with 1963 as the cut-off year, revocation of 1979 as the cut-off year under the BEFR, 1873, physical implementation of the ILP system as per the Abhishek Singh Committee report and establishment of Foreigners Tribunals under the Foreigners Act, 1946.
