DHUBRI, Dec 5 - In a bid to prevent erosion of the banks of the Brahmaputra and Gangadhar rivers, two embankment projects were inaugurated by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury and Dhubri MLA Nazrul Hoque today.
A project named �Immediate measures for restoration of Dhubri Patamari road cum bund at Silghagri from flood damage by river Brahmaputra under SDRF 2019-20� was inaugurated with a budget of more than Rs 2 crore. The renovation of this road cum embankment is a long pending demand of the people from the area. The area, especially from Howrarpar to Silghagri, is in a dilapidated condition.
Another embankment project for protecting border road and India-Bangladesh border fencing at Binnachara area from flooding was inaugurated by the duo and will be built by the SOPD (FDR) with a cost of more than Rs 5 crore.
