GUWAHATI, May 11 � The Kamrup (Metro) District unit of the Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti has nominated noted writer Eli Ahmed for its 2011 Dr Nirmalprava Bordoloi Award for her contributions to the field of literature.
The Beltola unit of the Samaroh Samiti has been observing June 20, the birth day of Dr Bordoloi, as the Prerona Divas since 1998. With the support of the family of Dr Bordoloi, this award is presented to a spirited writer at the interval of every two years.
The Kamrup (Metro) District unit of the Samaroh Samiti has been organising the award distribution function since 2009, said Kamala Ujir, secretary of the district unit of the Samiti in a press statement here.
The recipients of this award include Dipika Bhattacharyya, Late Swarna Bora, Nirupama Hagjer and Tultul Barua, among others.
Eli Ahmed will be presented the award on June 20 next at a function being held on the occasion of the 14th Prerona Divas at the Pandit Tirthanath Sarma Sabhaghar in the city. The award consists of Rs 15,000 in cash, silk clothes, a silver plaque, a citation and a bundle of books.
