UDALGURI, Jan 7: Acting on a tip-off, officials of Customs and Wild Life Crime Control Bureau seized six pieces of elephant tusks weighing 13 kg from a bag that contained 17 kg rice.
According to information, the officials saw two bike-borne youths riding suspiciously towards north of Tangla Railway Station, and tried to stop them.
Taking the benefit of a narrow lane, the two youths fled, but dropped the bag in a hurry.
The officials said that the value of the seized tusks in the international market will be approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
Investigation is on to nab the culprits.
