GUWAHATI, Sept 8 - A musth elephant killed its mahout at Dakhin Gaon in the Kahilipara area here today.
Musth or must is a periodic condition in male elephants characterised by highly aggressive behaviour and accompanied by a large rise in reproductive hormones.
Forest department officials rushed to the compound where the incident took place.
�The elephant was tranquillised and restrained. We have planned to take him to his owner�s place at Dispur later tonight,� State Zoo veterinarian Arindom Kishore said.
