Elephant kills 4 in Udalguri

KALAIGAON, July 15 � The man-elephant conflict has taken a serious turn in Udalguri district with four more persons falling victim to the pachyderm menace near the India-Bhutan border last night. A baby elephant was also found dead at Gitibari near Paneri.

So far this year, 10 people have been killed by wild elephants in the district.

According to information, a wild elephant of a herd killed Dhira Digol (32), Simon Digol (40) and Victor Ekka (30) at Coramore last night while they were trying to chase away the herd.

On the other hand, one Budhin Mura (45), was also killed last night by the same wild elephant at Bongurum just one km away. All the persons died on spot. In another incident, a baby elephant died at Gitibari near Paneri due to electrocution.
