GUWAHATI, March 1 � Electronic Media clinched the title in the Star Cement ASJA Media Cup T20 Cricket Tournament.

In the final played at the Nehru Stadium here today, the Electronic Media team defeated Media Management team by 16 runs.

Deciding to bat first the winning team scored 136 for the loss of nine wickets. Kishore Talukdar (25), Pankaj Pratim Bora (19), Pranjal Sarma (17) and Robin Das (16) were their notable contributors.

The Management team were right on track while chasing the target, but the middle order collapse ruined their hope and were finally restricted to 120 for seven. Abuddin Khan (33) and Jagjit Singh (27) tried heart out but their efforts went in vain as some tricky bowling by Binoy Kalita and Kishore finally managed to calm them.

Kishore Talukdar was adjudged man-of-the-final while Abuddin Khan received the man-of-the-series trophy. Jagjit Sing and Abuddin Khan were selected as best batsman and best bowler respectively.

In the closing function, journalists Premadhar Sharma, Pronoy Bordoloi, Achyut Patowary, Sanjib Phukan, Ravi Shankar Ravi, AOA official Pranab Saikia and former cricketer Mukut Kalita were present as guests.

Earlier, Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was introduced to the players before start of the final. Speaking on the occasion he revealed that Assam and Meghalaya will host the SAF Games in the month of November and a team of the SAF Games officials has already visited the States. He also mentioned that the maiden Himalayan Games will be conducted in this region.
