Electricity poles putting commuters in danger

By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, Sept 24 - Electricity poles that are standing almost in the middle of the road in Kahilipara area are creating hurdles for commuters. Although several complaints have been made, the Assam State Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has failed to take any step in this regard.

Several persons have reportedly been injured due to these poles in front of the Directorate of Education, Assam, at Kahilipara and on the Kahilipara-Sijubari connecting road (behind the Journalist Colony, Kahilipara).

These poles are posing a grave threat to the commuters. They are dangerous mainly for outsiders who are unaware of the existence of these poles in the middle of the road. The authorities should shift these poles immediately, Dhrubajyoti Sharma, a resident of Kahilipara, said.

There are several poles that are about to fall or bend. They are also not visible at night. The authorities must remove these poles, he said.
