GUWAHATI, Sept 2 - The Kamrup Metro administration on Sunday launched the Electors� Verification Programme in the district. Under it, the administration will provide assistance to the common people in rectifying various errors vis-a-vis their names in the electoral roll.
The administration has opened five Voter Felicitation Centres. The centres are located at the DC�s office, Azara Circle Office, Dispur Circle Office, Sonapur Circle Office and Chandrapur Circle Office.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Biswajit Pegu said, �During the last Lok Sabha election, I had received many complaints from public related to the electoral roll. Hope all our staff will work seriously to rectify all those mistakes. Moreover, the D-voter issue always creates lots of problem in preparation of the electoral roll, so we should be careful while carrying out revision of the electoral roll.�
Under the programme, the Election Commission of India also launched the website www.nsvp.in along with a mobile app and a helpline number.
Jimlee Saikia Kakoty, District Election Officer of Kamrup Metro said, �To avail an error-free electoral roll both public and officials should work sincerely. Hope under this programme many issues will be solved in the coming days.� Actor Kapil Bora was a special invitee.
