Electioneering gains momentum in Dima Hasao

Haflong March 9: Though not a single nomination has been filed till now for the ensuing Assam Assembly polls, the electioneering has gained momentum in Dima Hasao immediately after the declaration of party tickets by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC), people claimed.

Political observers said that this time the election of the 16 Haflong (ST) constituency will be very interesting and unprecedented as it is expected to be a neck to neck fight between INC and BJP.

Though there is still time remaining for filing of nominations but till now only three candidates are getting prepared to contest the election.

Nandita Gorlosa will be contesting from BJP, Nirmal Langthasa from INC and from Khandan Daulagupu from Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP). One or two candidates are likely to contest the election as independent and the election
scenario will be clearer only after the date of scrutiny of the nominations.

Political parties have been keeping themselves busy preparing poll strategies by conducting a series of meetings. Dima Hasao would go for poll on phase II i.e. April 1.

In Dima Hasao, no violation of MCC has been reported so far.
