Election website launched in Kamrup (R)

SUALKUCHI, March 20 - The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup District (Rural) Vinod Seshan launched a website myvotemyassam.com on Saturday evening. Launching the website, Seshan told mediapersons and block level officers that the Kamrup district administration had seized a huge quantity of foreign liquor, arms and arrested antisocial elements in a bid to create a congenial atmosphere in Palasbari, Boko, Chhaygaon and Hajo LACs.

He added that the administration had removed hoardings depicting the government schemes and welfare programmes. He called upon the people to go through the website and acquaint themselves with the measures taken by the EC for free and fair polling.

Earlier, an awareness meeting on �My vote, my duty, my right� was held in the afternoon in the DC office campus. Seshan explained the measures taken by the District Election Officer to create better awareness among the voters. He said a model polling station on wheels has been created and this polling station having a dummy presiding officer, polling officer and mobile team will create EVM awareness by demonstrating through a demo EVM and show people how to caste votes. He said roadshow by voters awareness van, street play, awareness meeting to motivate the electors, gaon sabha meetings, bike and cycle rally, workshop at colleges have been organised to increase the polling percentage.

He said that a social media campaign has been started and special T shirts, caps and wrist band with voting messages have been designed and will be distributed among the volunteers who will campaign for mass voting. The DC appealed to the BLOs and the mediapersons to extend cooperation to increase the percentage of voting. The awareness observer Yogesh Baweja expressed his satisfaction with the measures taken by the authority and called upon the people, particularly mediapersons to cooperate with the EC.
