GUWAHATI, Dec 20 � The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Assam vide a notification has formed a State level core group to draw policy formulation/planning/consultation in order to give formidable and sustainable strategy of the Voter� Education and Electoral Participation (VEEP), known earlier as IEC process, for enhancement of citizens� participation in the electoral process during the ensuing State Legislative Assembly general election, 2011 and the effective celebration of National Voters� Day on January 25, 2011 at State, district, subdivisional and BLOs� levels.
The core group has been formed in pursuance of the agenda notes of the North Eastern States� CEOs meeting held at Guwahati, earlier this year.
The CEO, Addl CEO shall be the chairman of the core group while the Commissioner Secretary to the Govt of Assam, Education Department; the Registrar, Gauhati University; the Director of Information & Public Relations, Assam; the Directors of Field Publicity; DAVP; Doordarshan, NE; the Station Director, AIR; the chairman/secretary Kamrup Chambers of Commerce; the president/secretary of NGOs, and the joint CEO, O/o the CEO, Assam will be the members, stated an official release.
