Eight science models by child scientists selected from Darrang

MANGALDAI, Oct 2 - Eight science models by child scientists from different schools of Darrang district have been selected to participate in the State Children Science Congress to be held in Majuli.

The 16 child scientists, two in each group, whose science models based on this year�s focus theme �Science, Technology and Innovation for Clean, Green and Healthy Nation� were selected in the District Children�s Science Congress under the 26th edition of the National Children�s Science Congress 2018 that concluded at Mangaldai College on Sunday afternoon.

The list of child scientists whose models have been selected to participate in the State meet as informed by Bidyut Deka, a member of the district organising committee on Monday. They are as follows: Jograj Sarma and Priyabrata Das of KV, Mangaldai, Deborshi Nath and Animesh Nath of Paschim Darrang Jatiya Vidyalya, Dipila, Jyotisman Pathak and Helima Khatun of Mangaldai Town Girls� HS, Parbin Aftab and Karishma Bora of Mangaldai Town Girls� HS, Priyamjyoti Kalita and Rohit Bose of Don Bosco High School, Mangaldai, Nupur Kashyap and Jyotsna Das of Sankardev Sishu Vidya Niketan, Mangaldai, Nori Begum and Barsha Bhattacharya of Deomornoi HS, and Sahil Ali Mossadique and Dhritiraj Nath of Holy Child Public School, Mangaldai.

A total of 73 science models were presented by the participating 109 child scientists in the district children�s science meet.

In the closing function which was presided over by Dr Khagendra Kumar Nath, Principal of Mangaldai College, several prominent guests, including MLA of Mangaldai Gurujyoti Das and national award-winning science teacher Sasanka Hazarika interacted with the budding child scientists.

Earlier, the day-long children�s science meet which was a programme of NCSTC under the Central Government�s Department of Science and Technology, was ceremonially inaugurated by Dr Budhin Chandra Hazarika , Principal of Kharupetia College by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
