Eight persons die in Arunachal landslides

ITANAGAR, Sept 10 (PTI) - At least eight persons died and several others were rendered homeless in the first wave of flash flood and lnadslides triggered by incessant rains during the past two days in Arunachal Pradesh.

Officials said the deaths occurred after the victims were buried under the debris following massive landslides at Mossing village in Upper Siang district last night. The district remained cut off following disruption in road link due to flash foods.

Flash floods triggered by torrential rains this morning wrecked havoc in parts of Prem Nagar Colony, East and West Damsite at Naharlagun. A vital bridge connecting Upper Siang with other places was badly damaged, besides several road links.

A number of houses were washed away at Gossang village and the area near Simar stream. A school building was also damaged in flash floods in the district.
