Eid-ul-Fitre celebrated in Nagaon

By Correspondent

NAGAON, July 7 - At the end of the month-long fasting, Eid-ul-Fitre was celebrated here today as in other parts of the country and the world. Special Eid prayers were held at the oldest Idgah, Anjuman-e-Nagaon Town Idgah, at 9 am. The prayer session was led by Imam Habibullah Quasimi. Earlier, the significance of the day was explained by Quari Kolimuddin. Later, all the people prayed for world peace.

Eid prayers were also offered in other Idgahs and mosques. People also visited graveyards and prayed for the eternal peace of their late relatives.

Despite the unprecedented price rise, which soured the festive mood of Eid to a great extent, a heavy rush was seen in markets during the last few days here.

Section 144 imposed: To maintain law and order in Nagaon district, ADC Brajen Chandra Das, through an order under Section 144, has banned the assembly of five or more persons at public places, carrying of lathis or other weapons, arranging meetings without prior permission from the authorities concerned, taking out processions, use of loudspeakers, burning of effigies, shouting of slogans, etc.

There is also a prohibition on the use of tinted glass in vehicles, collection of donations, etc. The order has been promulgated with immediate effect and will remain in force till further notice.
