SIVASAGAR, Sept 16 - Manoranjan Phukan, president of Mohan Deudhai Bailung Sanmilon, while addressing the open session of the mid-term conference of the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad Assam (TAYPA) at the Yuva Dal here yesterday, said that their organisation has been working hard to revive the cultural heritage of the Tai Ahoms.
He said, �We can organise Lachit Divas or Sukafa Divas in Delhi, Shillong etc., which is necessary for expanding the base of our non-sectarian, secular culture�.
He added that entrepreneurship or resource generating works can be practised and developed by the youths not just belonging to TAYPA, but with all others in order to develop the overall economy.
Youths from Assam serving as security guards in other States is a huge loss to our economy and self pride. These youths must conduct a self-assessment exercise in order to realise their own potential.
He said that it is time to think differently, work differently and establish themselves in this competitive world.
Youth organisations should raise their issues or demands democratically, he said.
The Ahoms would not have been able to rule for 600 years had there been no Bagh Hazarika or leaders and soldiers from other communities fighting foreign invaders hand in hand along with the Ahoms, he claimed.
The meeting, presided over by Diganta Tamuly, president of TAYPA, was also addressed by Prafulla Gogoi, president of the reception committee.
Gogoi said that the Ahoms can rightfully claim to be the biggest contributor to the Assamese socio-political entity. The meet was also addressed by Jadav Gogoi, president of Brihattar Asomiya Yuva Mancha, Debajit Dutta, presidentof Sangrami Yuva Chatra Parishad, Asom, Ankuran Phuan, presidentof Ahom Sena, Mintu Deudhai Phukan, Dilip Gogoi, Suraj Gogoi and Jayanta Borgohain.
