Efforts on to ban use of polythene in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Jan 10 - The district administration on Friday formed five separate teams under executive magistrates and directed them to ensure that the banned plastic and polythene bags were not in use in the city.

Further, the teams have been asked to conduct raids and search operations to seize and confiscate the banned items from all wholesalers and retailers in the respective areas.

As per the order, Executive Magistrate Subham Goala will lead his team in and around Convoy Road, Chowkidinghee and Milannagar market area, while Executive Magistrate Mirzana Hussain will look into areas in New Market, Cole Road and Marwaripatty. Similarly, Executive Magistrate Himangsu Chaudhuri has been assigned with the Chiring Chapori, Shantiapara and Jalukapara area, while Executive Magistrate Tanvi Ahmed will operate in Gabharupathar and Graham Bazar areas, a release stated.

The district administration had recently issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the use of plastic and polythene, thereby putting certain restrictions on their use in view of their lethal nature.
