Educationist, scribes awarded

SUALKUCHI, April 6 - In a recent ceremony held under the aegis of the North Guwahati Journalists� Association at the Amingaon-based Yuba Bikash Kendra, distinguished educationist and journalists were conferred awards.

While Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University was awarded the Narayan Bezbaruah Award, Prokash Mahanta, Associate Editor of Asomiya Protidin was awarded the Radhika Mohan Bhagowati Award and Bedabrat Misra, Assistant Editor of Dainik Asam was awarded the Maya Ram Tamuli Award.

In the meeting, Kalam, a quarterly journal published by the North Guwahati Journalists� Association was released by Dr Paramananda Rajbangshi, the president of Asam Sahitya Sabha.

Participating in the meeting, Dr Anada Charan Bhagabati, former Vice Chancellor of Arunachal University lauded the journalists� association for organising the ceremony and presenting awards in memory of noted personalities.

Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury along with his brother Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury recited the popular Eta Gan Sesh Hoi Gol amidst tremendous applause. Madhusudhan Medhi, who was elected president of Kamrup District Journalists� Association, was felicitated in the meeting.

The meeting was anchored by Diganta Bordoloi, president of North Guwahati Journalists� Association.

The meeting was attended by Manindra Kumar Baruah, former Principal of North Guwahati College, Bhairab Sarma, teachers , students and the family members of Narayan Bezbaruah and Maya Ram Tamuli, besides many other people of the locality.

Utpal Ranjan Medhi subsequently offered the vote of thanks.
